Founded in 1994, jurors evaluate the finalists based on segment leadership, innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and value for the dollar. The process, which started in June 2019 by determining a list of eligible vehicles, included three rounds of voting.
Chevrolet’s gamble to switch to a mid-engined format for the Corvette has reaped its benefits, winning them the North American Car of the Year. Selected not just for its design, but also its impressive performance and refinement.
Meanwhile, the Kia Telluride was named as North American Utility Vehicle of the Year. This marks the first time Kia has won the award capping off an unprecedented number of awards for Kia’s new three-row SUV. Jurors praised the Telluride for its smooth ride and rich interior.
Finally, the Jeep Gladiator was selected as the North American Truck of the Year. Jeep calls the Gladiator the most capable mid-sized truck and jurors seemed to agree. They praised the Gladiator for its all-terrain capability and versatility.
