Suzuki Philippines’s strong seller, the sub-compact crossover Vitara gets a styling refresh for the 2020 model year. For 2020, it gets a new expressive design and a revamped interior without a huge price jump.
Outside, the Vitara receives a new vertical chrome grille along with chrome front bumper garnishes which help it exude a stronger off-road feel. It also gets wider looking rear combination lamps with the reverse lamp moving to the lower bumper. The top-trim GLX model also adds LED headlights with a colored projector cover and a new design for the 17-inch alloy wheels as well.
Inside, the 2020 Vitara receives a new soft pad instrument panel along with a revised instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch colored LCD display. All models also get a center arm rest console while the GLX model receives a geometric design for its leather seats for a sportier feel and a 10-inch infotainment system (the lower models have an 8-inch system).
Mechanically, there’s only one powertrain option for the new Vitara and that’s the normally aspirated 1.6-liter M16A engine making 115 horsepower and 156 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic driving the front wheels. Cruise control is standard as is electronic stability control. Having said that, the GLX adds the safety of 6 airbags, and front and rear proximity sensors (with reverse camera).
The 2020 Vitara is now available at all authorized Suzuki Auto dealerships in 10 colors (variant depending) including the new signature Prime Solar Yellow with either a contrasting black or white roof. Its suggested retail price is P 1,038,000 for the GL+ and P 1,158,000 for the GLX.
