Despite increased competition, Ford managed to fortify its position in the pickup truck market with the announcement that the Ranger achieved an all-time record quarterly sales performance in the third quarter of 2019.
Third quarter retail sales for the Ranger rose 28 percent to a record 3,852 vehicles, driving its year-to-date total up 26 percent to 10,688 vehicles.
“The Ranger remains a key driver of our growth in the Philippines and continues to gain a wide appeal among customers with varying needs. We remain confident that the segment-defining pickup truck will help sustain our momentum as we close out the year,” said PK Umashankar, managing director, Ford Philippines.
The ‘Built Ford Tough’ Ranger lineup in the Philippines has grown to 11 variants, including the recent addition of the Ranger XLS Sport that features striking design enhancements from the XLS variant that further strengthen its rugged and visual appeal. The Ford Ranger is available starting at P 1,032,000.
Third quarter sales for the Everest mid-size SUV totaled 618 units, pushing up year-to-date sales to 3,537 vehicles, while the EcoSport mini-SUV delivered third quarter sales of 492 units, driving its year-to-date sales to 1,512 vehicles.
Ford Philippines credits the strong sales performance of the Ranger and Everest thanks to its next-generation 2.0-liter diesel engine and 10-speed automatic. With the new powertrain, customers enjoy lower maintenance costs thanks to a once-a-year scheduled service interval.
